what you need to know about Briarwood Pool
For over fifty years, Briarwood Pool has been a safe and fun summer spot where kids meet to swim and cool off, parents have a chance to relax, and the Briarwood Dolphins summer swim team competes.
Friends of the Briarwood Pool is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2014 solely to support the continued long-term operation of Briarwood Pool.
In 2017, the Jackson YMCA made the decision to cease management of the pool. Friends of the Briarwood Pool voted to lease the pool from the Y and keep it open for business. Briarwood Pool is an priceless asset to Jackson and surrounding communities.
All Briarwood Pool Summer Memberships are Final once the selected Membership has been Paid, Approved and Activated.
We want new generations of families to experience the wonderful summers spent there.
We are required to follow the directives of federal, state, and local leaders. Therefore, we will see changes to how swimming at Briarwood looks this Summer. We cannot guarantee what precautions will be put in place at this point. We therefore recommend that prospective members wait to sign up for a membership until they are ready to commit to joining us at Briarwood this Summer. At the same time, we are trying to project our summer budget and would appreciate prospective members signing up as soon as they feel prepared to do so. We plan to offer refunds for significant gaps in time where we are not able to open, but we do not plan to offer refunds based on dissatisfaction with measures that need to be put in place to maintain safety and compliance. Some examples of measures that we will likely put in place this Summer are: 1. Limiting the number of people that may gather together at a time to match state and local laws. As of May 11, 2020, this number is 20 persons.2. Having time slots that members can reserve to enjoy the pool. This will be done on as equitable of a basis as possible and may be in windows of 1hr. 45 minutes at a time.3. Instituting a 15-minute break between sessions to allow cleaning of the facility.”4. Decreasing staffing compared to previous summers with limited numbers of users at any one time.
